Scientific Calculator 🧮

Everything the exam calculator does for Grade 12 — sine, cosine and tangent in degrees or radians, logarithms, powers and roots, factorials, nCr and nPr, scientific notation and the last answer. The answer appears as you type, and the keyboard works too.

    How it calculates

The same order as your exam calculator

Brackets first, then powers, then × and ÷, then + and −. Two things follow the Casio convention: −3² is −9, because the square is worked out before the minus, and a multiplication with no sign binds tighter than ÷, so 1÷2π means 1÷(2π). Missing closing brackets at the end are added for you.

    Degrees or radians

The DEG key switches the angle unit, and the screen always shows which one is on. In degrees the common angles are exact — sin 30° is 0.5 and cos 90° is 0, not a long decimal — and tan 90° is refused, because it has no value.

    2nd, nCr and Ans

Press 2nd for the function printed above a key: sin⁻¹, eˣ, 10ˣ, ∛, x³, the n-th root, |x| and nPr. nCr counts combinations — 5C2 = 10 — and Ans is the last answer, so pressing an operator straight after = carries on from it.

    Nothing leaves your device

The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is sent or saved, and the list of answers is gone when you close the tab. The address bar keeps your last calculation, so you can send the link to a classmate and they will see the same working.
